Johannes Hyacinthus Rottemburgh (Brussels 1672-1756), a luthier and woodwind instrument-maker, was also a violinist of the Court Chapel. There are grounds for supposing a German ancestry and a link with the Rottemburger family of organ-builders in Salzburg.

Our copy is of an instrument now located in the Geementemuseum in The Hague .
